Dr. Marini is a board certified General Surgeon and Dermatologist. He has been active in the complex field of Dermatologic Surgery since 1987 and currently serves as Medical and Scientific Director of The Skin Doctors’ Center of Trieste. His academic involvement as Professor of Laser Dermatology saw him teaching at the University of Siena, Parma, Udine and Verona. His primary interests are Mohs’ micrographic surgery for of non-melanoma skin cancer, advanced dermatological applications of LASERs and EBDs, advanced photodynamic therapy and aesthetic dermatology.
He is a pioneer in the field of combination treatments in laser and EBDs in Dermatology. His clinical research led to the development of photo-peel, advanced multi-layer photodynamic treatments, sequential laser layering techniques to treat capillary-venular malformations, post-acne scars, skin aging and tattoo removal. He also developed an advanced tissue cryo-processing system for Mohs micrographic surgery to optimize laboratory time. Two of his recent fields of research focus on establishing a potential link between food intolerances and inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis, AD, and advanced post-treatment dressing protocols.
Dr. Marini is presently serving as Chairman of the Task Force for Laser Dermatology of the European Academy of Dermatology, he proudly founded the European Society for Laser Dermatology (ESLD) in 1996, contributed to the foundation of the European Society of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology (ESCAD) and the European Society for Micrographic Surgery (ESMS). He is actively involved in educational courses organized by EADV, ESCAD, ESLD, and ESMS and, as Honorary President of the Hellenic Society of Dermatologic Surgery he regularly teaches at its annual meetings. He serves in the Board of many international Scientific Societies.
Dr. Marini has published numerous scientific peer-reviewed papers in international medical journals as well as many book chapters. He is very active in national and international congresses where he delivered more than 500 clinical presentations.
